Giving it a shot (literally)!

Updated: Mar 29, 2023

Beginning our #IVF journey

Why a pineapple? Did you know that the pineapple is a symbol for infertility/IVF treatment? **

If you've been to my blog before, you've probably read about my endometriosis diagnosis and subsequent surgery. If you haven't, you can read it here:

After a few months of deliberation with my husband and speaking with doctors, family and friends, we decided to give IVF a shot (pun intended)!

To be honest, I'm terrified. Of the process, of the chance that it won't work, of actually giving birth once I am pregnant. But this is something that Sean and I want.

When I first found out that I couldn't get pregnant naturally, I was devastated. I felt broken and that my body has failed me. And I felt terrible for not being able to give my husband the child he has always dreamed of.

Here we are, 3 months post surgery and post diagnosis. I gave myself a few months off to just relax and try to not think about it. We went on a couple small trips and I didn't even look at my ovulation tests or checked my cycle apps. So many people tell you that once you stop "trying" you get pregnant. Sadly, that is not the case when your body is literally incapable of doing so.

I'm now 34 years old and decided that having a baby is something that I really want.

We are at the very beginning of the IVF process and just getting all our baseline lab work done.

I want to share everything here - the good, the bad, and hopefully (if all goes well) the whole pregnancy.

It's incredible how many women are currently going through this as well. It's a nice feeling to know you aren't alone. And I hope this helps build a community of strong women who are putting their bodies through all the tests, and the roller coaster of emotions that is the IVF process.

I'm here for you if you want to talk! And thank you for going on this journey with me! Please DM me on Instagram @thelexiconoflife - I'd love to connect with you!

- Lex
