2023 was a wild ride for me in terms of my health. My fertility journey (see related posts) was one of the main reasons I started this blog. It was an outlet for me to share my thoughts on what I've been going through, but also hoping to help others who may be going through the same thing.
After two surgeries, multiple doctors visits, countless (it seems) blood draws and ultrasounds, I've decided to take a step back and decided to not go through IVF treatment. I was so stressed and worried about everything last year that it was not helping my endometriosis or mental health.
So this year, 2024, instead of writing down typical resolutions, I decided to pick a word for the year and focus on that. My word for 2024 is..... HEALING!
Healing by seeking help from professionals
I've been searching for a new doctor who takes a more holistic and naturopathic approach to health, while still incorporating a traditional view of medicine. I actually found one in Denver who takes insurance, so I will report back if I find they are a good fit.
I also started going regularly to acupuncture (see related post) starting last year, and I feel like it's done wonders for my mental health and overall stress levels. Not only has my acupuncturist helped me feel better during treatment, but she's been a great shoulder to - literally - cry on during multiple sessions. If you are in the Denver area and are looking for an acupuncturist - check out:
After doing a bunch of my own research into other ways to help my endometriosis symptoms, I also started going to see a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist in 2024. There are so many benefits of seeing a Pelvic Floor PT for both men and women. It's great if you have any back issues, are pregnant, planning on getting pregnant soon, or just had a baby. Or if have pain during sex. I highly recommend looking to see if a Pelvic Floor PT is right for you! These issues are super common but that doesn't mean they should be ignored. I've already noticed a difference after a few short visits and I will continue to go and continue to improve!
I've been going to Movement Physio and Wellness - https://www.movementphysioco.com/
They also offer a variety of workout classes as well as PT appointments! Check them out if you live in the Denver area!
Healing at home and abroad
The other ways I'm healing is by trying to live as stress-free as possible. Thankfully, I have a wonderful husband and the best fur baby that definitely help alleviate that stress.
I've really been making an effort to eliminate harmful toxic chemicals in my life and eating as healthy as I can, so I get the right nourishment my body needs. It's so true that food is the best medicine.
I've also been focusing on taking the exercises given to me from the PT and incorporating them into my daily life. I've also been trying to do a Peloton spin, yoga, stretching or some other class every morning when I wake up, even if it's only for 15 or 20 minutes. Click the link here if you want to try out the Peloton app for 60 days!
I definitely notice a difference in how I feel during the day when I've moved my body.
Currently it's still winter in Denver so I don't get out as much to walk outside. But once it starts getting warmer, I will be incorporating more walks into my routine as well.
Speaking of warmer weather, I'm also trying to focus on traveling this year. Since Covid, I really haven't traveled much and Sean and I never went on a official honeymoon because of our 2020 Covid Wedding. So we just booked a trip to Mexico this Spring! I'm hoping we can also plan some other small trips and even just explore more of CO!
I hope this helps you! Please feel free to send me any other tips and tricks that you use for your own healing journey!
