All my favorite restaurants, places to go, and things to do in the Denver area.
I still haven't lived in Denver for too long - we moved here in October or 2021 - but these are some of my favorite places in and around Denver. And some places I can't wait to check out!
As we head towards Summer, I am starting to create my lists for things I want to see and do in Denver. I also wanted to create a list of some of my favorite places I've been so far, and hopefully you find it useful!
Favorite Restaurants
- Birdhouse - Located in Erie, CO. I know the combination of tacos and ramen sounds weird, but they are both delicious! Also, they have great fried chicken. Plus, there is a cute rooftop patio!
-Carrera's Tacos - If you are from California and are missing the burritos from home, you must go here! It's a little bit of a drive from Denver (located in Greenwood Village) but it's worth it! Get the Cali burrito with your choice of meat.
-Postino 9Co - There are 5 locations in the Denver area with a brand new location in Boulder that I will for sure be checking out this summer. They are known for their bruschetta and charcuterie boards!
-Yak & Yeti - I think we've been here the most out of all the restaurants we've tried in Denver. If you like Indian food - or want to try it- check this place out! Multiple locations around Denver and one in Hawaii! Best chai I've ever had!
- Babe's Tea Room - The perfect date spot or a cute place for a bachelorette/ bridal/ baby shower. Countless teas and finger sandwiches.
-Acreage by Stem Ciders - A restaurant with a beautiful view of the mountains. Located in Lafayette, Co. A fun place to grab some ciders and enjoy the view.
-Food hall markets - Edgewater Public Market, The Golden Mill, - Elevated food courts are all the rage right now. There are a bunch of them all over Denver. I've been to a couple and it's fun to be able to try different types of food. Also, The Golden Mill (in Golden, Co) also has a pour-it-yourself beer/wine wall where you get a wristband and pour whatever drinks you want. They also have kombuchas and some N/A beers for us non-drinkers.
Favorite Attractions
-Adam's mystery playhouse in Denver- Do you like true crime or solving cases and/or like watching dinner theater? Definitely check this place out in Denver! They have a rotating theme each month. The one I saw was "Murder in Hollywood" and my family and I had a great time! Plus, the food was really good too!
-Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster - A place to experience hundreds of butterflies flying around you plus other exhibits about sea life and insects. There is also a tarantula that you can hold if you're brave enough and aren't terrified of spiders like I am.
-Upstairs Circus in Denver- Bring out your artistic side while sipping on cocktails with friends or family and make a variety of DIY crafts from artwork, to jewelry, to leather items, to shelves and other home decor. It's fun because the entire group gets to work on their own project instead of doing the same art piece like a paint and sip class. I made a necklace and Sean did a painting.
- Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater in Morrison - A must do if you live in Colorado! It is truly a magical venue among the rocks with a very cool musical history. The park/ venue is open most days before concerts begin (check the website for details) but there is a really cool music museum downstairs with the history of the venue. It's also open during concerts and they project the concert on a big screen if you need a break from being outside.
Favorite Day/ Weekend trips from Denver
- Estes Park - About an hour and a half northwest of Denver. Take a day to explore the town, go into Rocky Mountain National Park, and check out the Stanley Hotel. I highly recommend the ghost tour (if you dare!) It's where Stephen King was inspired to write the Shining.
-Breckenridge - An hour and a half southwest of Denver. Breckenridge is a fun little ski town with a very walkable downtown with a ton of restaurants and shops.
-Aspen - I wrote a whole blog post about our trip to Aspen, HERE.
-Boulder - Only about 40 minutes from Denver. Boulder is a great college town with a fun pedestrian mall (Pearl Street) and tons of hiking trails around.
Places I Still Want To Visit
- Botanical gardens
- Denver Zoo
- Washington park
-Tubing in Golden and in Denver
-Hot Springs
-Denver Aquarium
Where else should I go? And let me know if you have any questions or want more details about any place listed!
