Date night idea near Denver: The Melting Pot restaurant

A perfect place to celebrate anything! Because who doesn't love dipping stuff in hot cheese or chocolate?

Sean and I finally went to The Melting Pot for his birthday dinner.

It's been years since I've been to a Melting Pot location so their menu has changed a lot. They have so many more options and so much to choose from. They have a "meal for two" or an ala carte option as well. We priced it out and the meal for two option was actually cheaper and you get more food.

First Course - The Cheese Fondue

We decided to get the "Classic Alpine" for our cheese fondue. It is the house favorite and we figured it would be a good one to try. It has gruyere, raclette, fontina, white wine, garlic and nutmeg.

With the fondue you get a selection of bread, fruit and veggies to dip. After this first course I was already full! I'm warning you, you will be stuffed (in the best way) after eating here!

Second Course- Salad

After the cheese course, it was a nice break to have a salad. Each person gets to choose which salad you want. I went with the California salad (right)- mixed greens, pecans, gorgonzola, tomatoes and a raspberry vinaigrette.

Sean went with the Apple Bacon Spinach salad (left) - fresh spinach, crimini mushrooms, egg

spicy pecans, granny smith apples, and apple bacon vinaigrette.

Third Course - Entrees

The next course was new to me! They replace the cheese fondue pot with a hot-pot filled with the cooking style of your choice. We chose the "Mojo" which was a Caribbean style broth with garlic, cilantro and citrus.

You also get to pick the proteins you want to cook. We went with the Pacific Rim which comes with: Shrimp, Teriyaki-Marinated Steak, Chicken Potstickers, Sesame-Crusted Ahi Tuna and Duck Breast. And we also got the Land & Sea which includes: Garlic Pepper Steak, Herb-Crusted Chicken Breast, Shrimp, and Atlantic Salmon. It was plenty of food - more so for Sean because I don't eat steak. You cook everything together in the hot-pot and they also give you dipping sauces and more veggies too.

Fourth Course- CHOCOLATE FONDUE!

Because there is always room for dessert!

By this time I was so full! I never eat this much but it was a special occasion so of course I indulged!

Sean loves chocolate and peanut butter, so we had to go with the "Original" which is just that!

The chocolate/peanut butter fondue came with a variety of fruit, cookies, cakes and rice crispy treats to dip.

TL;DR:

Everything was amazing! And if you have a special celebration coming up, I highly recommend The Melting Pot! https://www.meltingpot.com/

Have you been? What are you favorite choices that I should try next time?

Happy early Valentine's Day!
